ARCHAM, the alliance of Chambers of Commerce of the Atlantic Arc, has been awarded the 2026 Atlantic Corridor Prize, an award granted by the Office of the Atlantic Corridor Commissioner in recognition of its work to foster cooperation, collaboration and joint action with the aim of promoting the development and implementation of the Corridor, whilst also working to strengthen competitiveness and sustainability across all the territories comprising the Atlantic Arc.
With this special mention, the organisation has sought to highlight ARCHAM’s role as an active player in promoting economic and institutional cooperation between regions and economic stakeholders, facilitating the launch of joint projects, driving forward infrastructure, services and policies that foster greater regional integration and more competitive and sustainable logistics, and helping to tackle the major economic and social challenges linked to the development of the Atlantic Corridor.
The awards ceremony for the second edition of the Corridor Prizes took place as part of the International Logistics Fair (SIL), and brought together representatives from the sector’s leading institutions, such as the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Adif, Renfe, Puertos del Estado, the Spanish Railways Foundation and the Barcelona Free Zone Consortium, as well as companies and organisations from the sector.
The ceremony recognised the best initiatives in the fields of freight transport and logistics. This second edition saw 42 companies take part, with over 50 projects submitted in categories such as multimodal transport, rail transport, sustainability, innovation, logistics terminals and excellence in the supply chain.
About ARCHAM
The Chambers of Commerce of northern Portugal, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Burgos, Navarra, the Basque Country, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine signed the Declaration of the Chambers of Commerce of the Atlantic Arc in Bilbao in June 2023, with the aim of creating mechanisms for inter-chamber and inter-institutional cooperation to jointly address the economic, social, and environmental challenges faced by the regions of the Atlantic Arc. Since this first conference, five more have been held—in Bilbao, Porto, Oviedo, Vigo, and Brussels—advancing the identification of shared areas of interest, the drafting of a strategic document, and the inclusion of public administrations and other institutions in the project. The strategic document establishes three priority areas of work of common interest to all territories:
- Transport and Intermodality
- Promotion of the Atlantic rail corridor
- Support for intermodality and connectivity of Atlantic Arc ports
- Hydrogen Corridor and Renewable Energy
- Development of the hydrogen corridor
- Offshore wind energy
- The Camino de Santiago as a unifying hallmark
- Wine tourism
- Leisure, nature, and wellness activities
The Chambers of the Atlantic Arc aim to generate synergies around these areas of work to transform the territory and make it more competitive, more sustainable, more dynamic, more open and connected; as well as more attractive and with a higher quality of life for its citizens.
